2022 Global Encounters & First Nations Peoples

Delighted to be helping to contribute to the work of the ‘Global Encounters & First Nations Peoples: 1000 Years of Australian History‘ which explores encounters between Australia’s Indigenous peoples and voyagers from the sea over the period of a millennium. I’m going to be exploring the evidence for connections between First Nations Peoples in Australia and China.

On Thursday 16 June 2022 between 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm I will be presenting a seminar ‘Tracing the myth that the Chinese “discovered” Australia’ as part of the ‘Global Encounters & First Nationals People: 100 Years of Australian History’. Registration is free at https://www.monash.edu/arts/monash-indigenous-studies/global-encounters-and-first-nations-peoples/events/2022-global-encounters-network-seminar-series-sophie-couchman.
