When I first created this little book I never dreamt that it would still be of interest and value over ten years later. Embarking on the process of learning about your Chinese Australian family history is more than just research in archives and libraries, there is also a powerful emotional element to uncovering our links to the past and also the sometimes painful lives our ancestors lived.

Secrets, Silences and Sources: Five Chinese-Australian Family Histories brings together family histories written by members of the Chinese Australian Family Historians of Victoria (CAFHOV) group. Authors share their family stories while simultaneously revealing the challenges, methods and sources used to construct them.
